Ware County Middle School FFA traveled to Ocilla, Georgia on November 12 to participate in the South Region FFA Fall Career Development Events (CDE's). Maddox L., Abbigail P., Amberly P. and Tessa H. participated in the Region Livestock Evaluation CDE and placed 12th overall. These students evaluated hogs, cattle, sheep and goats using selection methods based on confirmation and structure. The students gained valuable speaking experience as they explained their livestock rankings to a panel of judges. Evan J., Jaxton H., Lindsay C., and Asher D. participated in the Environmental Natural Resources CDE and placed 5th overall. These students had to complete a GPS course using given coordinates and also identify 25 specimens of wildlife, trees, and forestry equipment. This competition gives students the opportunity to learn skills and explore careers in the natural resources and conservation area.
