Mrs. Colleen Lagoueyte is one of two Certified Golden Achievement Award Winners for September 2021. WCHS Assistant Principal Peggy Jones described Mrs. Lagoueyte by saying, “CTAE Early Childhood Education pathway teacher Mrs. Colleen Lagoueyte is a leader in the CTAE department and its Professional Learning Community. She continually strives to improve as a teacher. She serves as an advisor for the award-winning WCHS chapter of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. She readily participates in many statewide professional development opportunities and redelivers content to our faculty. Colleen sees the big picture and works as a team player to continually improve our school and learning environment.
Colleen worked diligently to earn industry certification for the ECE pathway and has devoted countless hours to maintaining this certification. She has a passion for inspiring her students, and she strives daily to help each student achieve their potential. Many students are choosing to enter the field of education because of her classroom environment and personal inspiration.
“Colleen is always quick to adapt her instruction to fit students’ needs. When our school system went to a hybrid instructional program, Colleen knew it would be difficult for her students to get the required number of clinical experience hours. She worked with the administration to create the opportunity for her ECE students to work with staff members’ children, ensuring that they obtain quality hands-on clinical experience.
“Colleen’s dedication to her students and their success is an example to all those who work with her; her good-humored and helpful nature is an example to everyone she meets. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated and experienced educator shaping the next generation of teachers.”
