Early Childhood Education Pathway Students Explore Teaching Careers Through FCCLA STAR Events. .....True EduGators!
Two Ware County High School students, Charity and Alexandra, recently took a step toward their future careers by job shadowing local teachers as part of their FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) STAR competition. This hands-on experience gave them valuable insight into the world of education and allowed them to engage with students in meaningful ways.
Charity M. spent her day at Williams Heights Elementary School, working alongside First Grade Teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Cox. She had the opportunity to teach young students about the characteristics of living things, making the lesson interactive with a fun and engaging activity. The elementary students were excited to learn, and Charity gained firsthand experience in classroom management and lesson planning.
Meanwhile, Alexandra S. shadowed Mrs. Mindy Smith, a Family and Consumer Science teacher at Waycross Middle School. She assisted students with their projects, providing guidance and support as they worked on hands-on assignments. From organization to creativity, Alexandra saw the impact that FCS education has on preparing students for real-life skills.
Both students participated in these FCCLA competitive events to explore education as a potential career path. Their time in the classroom reinforced their passion for teaching and gave them a new appreciation for the dedication and hard work of educators. With the help of these wonderful mentor teachers and through FCCLA, Charity and Alexandra are developing leadership skills and career readiness, making a difference in their communities while preparing for their futures.
