The Ware County School System has been notified that several staff members have tested positive for COVID-19.
Per our established protocol, all areas of the building that the individuals used were closed off to allow custodial staff to thoroughly clean and disinfect the spaces.
All individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 are required to quarantine and will not be permitted to return to school for at least 10 days from the onset of symptoms, per guidance provided by the Georgia Department of Education and the Georgia Department of Public Health.
Personnel who were directly exposed to staff members with positive test results have been notified of the exposure and are also following the established protocol to monitor symptoms and remain under quarantine for a period of 10 days. Exposure means the individual was in close contact (within 6 feet for at least 15 minutes) with a person confirmed to have COVID-19.
No students have been exposed to the staff members because school is not yet in session. Once students return on August 17th, we will continue to follow this protocol and notify families if their children have had direct exposure to an individual with a positive case.
The district will continue to closely monitor this situation and will notify the public if any additional actions need to be taken.
