Wacona Elementary School has been recognized as one of America’s Healthiest Schools by Alliance for a Healthier Generation for meeting best practices that support the health and well-being of students, staff, and families. They are one of 781 schools across the country and one of only eight in the state of Georgia to receive this recognition. Learn more and view the full list at healthiestschools.org.
“We’re honored to receive this national recognition for our dedication to supporting the
well-being of students and staff and remain steadfast in our commitment to fostering
environments where all members of the school community can learn and thrive. I am so
proud of my staff and thankful for the hard work they put in each and every day,” said
Principal, Jeri Ray.
Special thanks to counselors LeAnna Hiers and Dr. Kim Callahan (pictured) for laying the foundation that led to Wacona's recognition. Their work in cultivating staff well-being and strengthening Social-Emotional Health and Learning has directly impacted the school's culture and climate and has led to national recognition opportunities. Way to go, Hornets!
