Ruskin Elementary School’s National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) students are learning some important life lessons through serving others. The NEHS students recently completed a service project with Baptist Village Retirement Communities in which they delivered flower arrangements to the residents. Southern Wholesale Florist partnered with Ruskin’s NEHS students to donate flowers for their special project. The students worked hard researching and learning how to make a variety of flower arrangements and the proper way to care for cut flowers.
The generous donation from Southern Wholesale Florist filled an entire classroom at Ruskin Elementary. Students quickly went to work cutting and making beautiful arrangements. After making over 100 flower arrangements, students brought joy to the halls of Baptist Village Retirement Communities by personally delivering their beautiful arrangements accompanied by sweet notes they wrote to many residents. This quickly became the best part of the project for many of the students. Witnessing the smiles on the residents faces and hearing the sweet conversations between the students and residents was truly heartwarming. “Seeing how happy they are to see us was the best part,” NEHS student Lilli T. said.
Ruskin Elementary is proud of the students’ hard work and determination to serve others. “The giving hearts of these students have really shown throughout this project,” NEHS coordinator Libby Trogdon said. Donna Solomon is the principal of Ruskin Elementary School.
