Ruskin Elementary is implementing a new and exciting House System to create a positive climate and culture for students and staff. The school is using the Ron Clark Academy's methods in hopes to build character, relationships, and school spirit.
The students and staff at Ruskin Elementary are already seeing positive results. Students have noted that the House concept has helped them to form friendships and create closer bonds with their peers. Teachers have noted how students perform at higher levels when points are assigned and their peers are cheering them on.
The House System at Ruskin is comprised of the House of Unity (Green), House of Hope (Yellow), House of Courage (Red), and the House of Peace (Blue). Every student and staff member belongs to a House, and each House is represented by a particular color. Points are earned, not given, to students who are going above and beyond expected roles and responsibilities. The points that are collected by each House throughout the year will help determine the champions for the 2019-2020 school year. Donna Solomon, principal of Ruskin Elementary, is highly enthusiastic about Ruskin's House System.
