The Ware County School System has revised its COVID Practice / Procedures effective January 2022. Please read below to determine our current practice. If you have questions or need assistance, contact feedback@ware.k12.ga.us.
Ware County Schools’ current practice is to consider guidance from the CDC, the Georgia Department of Health, and local health officials in determining COVID procedures. An individual’s vaccination or booster status is not a factor in determining procedures.
In interpreting the procedures listed below, please note the following: Day 0 is the day of symptom onset or the date tested for isolation if symptom-free. For school exposure, day 0 is the last day of exposure to the positive case.
Students
A. Students who test positive
Positive students may return to school after 5 full days of isolation if the student is symptom-free and has no temperature without fever-reducing medicine for at least 24 hours prior to returning. Upon returning to school, the student must wear a mask while at school and on the bus for the remaining 5 days of isolation.
OR
Positive students may stay home and isolate for 10 days.
B. Students who are exposed at school
Exposed students who show no symptoms have the choice to stay home or return to school. Students who return to school must wear a mask while at school and on the bus for 10 days.
Exposed students who show symptoms must stay home for 10 days.
C. Students who are exposed at home
Exposed students must stay home for 5 days and can return to school for the remaining 5 days of quarantine provided they do not have symptoms and wear a mask at school and on the bus.
When a student is out for COVID, notes should be made in the student’s Infinite Campus attendance record.
