This September, Center Elementary proudly displayed gold bows on the front of their building in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The bows were purchased from CampgroundMinistries.org, an organization founded by Brent and Sarah Tatum to support families battling childhood cancer. Pictured left to right in a show of solidarity are Amber Mitchell, Special Education Coordinator; Nancy Perry, grandmother of Camp Tatum; Melissa Evans, Assistant Principal; Le Var Garner, Principal; Brianna Abbott, Waycross Service League President and Teacher; Susie Tison; Instructional Coach; and Cheryl Tatum, grandmother of Camp Tatum.
The proceeds from the bows go directly back to the local community, helping families of children or youth fighting cancer. This year's support hits especially close to home, as one of Ware County's youth is currently battling childhood cancer, making the "Going Gold" initiative even more meaningful for all involved.
Center Elementary stands proud, raising awareness and funds for this vital cause while offering hope to families in need.
