The Ware County cross country teams competes at Long County high school on Tuesday in the 3 rd Annual Blue Tide Hills event. There were 8 schools in both the Girls varsity and the Boys varsity races. The Lady Gators placed 6 th overall in the field and the Gators placed 5 th overall in the field. The Girls race had a total of 55 runners finish and the Boys race had a total of 72 runners finish. Scoring for the Girls were Destiney Mendoza (11 th grade) placing 12 th with a time of 24:19, Karla Calvillo (10 th grade) placing 28 th with a time of 26:31, Kali Patten (9 th grade) placing 38 th with a time of 29:18, Olivia Sanders (12 th grade) placing 47 th with a time of 33:24, and Paula Gomez (10 th grade) placing 55 th with a time of 48:57. The top 5 for the Gators were Brock Payne (9 th grade) placing 22 nd with a time of 20:25, Da’Marion Zanders (11 th grade) placing 28 th with a time of 20:57, Caleb Wise (11 th grade) placing 30 th with a time of 21:07, Brayten Hood (9 th grade) placing 31 st with a time of 21:08, and Trey Kurtz (12 th grade) placing 32 nd with a time of 21:18. The Gators and Lady Gators will be running at home for their senior night race on Thursday 10/10/24. Seniors will be honored at the finish line at 4:15 PM and the Girls race will begin at 4:30.
