The GHSA State 5A Girls and Boys Golf Tournament, hosted by Ware County at the picturesque Okefenokee Country Club in Blackshear, GA, concluded with impressive performances from the Gator Golf Teams.
Girls' Team Performance
The Ware County Girls' Golf Team showcased their skills, finishing a commendable 8th overall in a highly competitive field. The individual scores are as follows:
Anniston Grantham led the team with a solid performance, scoring 173.
Annslee Kate Grantham followed with a score of 189.
Eevy Griffin contributed with a score of 202.
Lillie Livingston added a score of 205.
Kate Thomas rounded out the team’s effort with a score of 215.
The girls' consistent play throughout the tournament highlights their growth and potential for future success.
Boys' Team Performance
The Boys' Golf Team achieved a remarkable 4th place finish overall. The individual results were as follows:
Jackson Ray and Asher Dean both scored 170, contributing significantly to the team’s overall standing.
Mac Dean was close behind with a score of 177.
Collin Brown scored a 168..
Eli Taft delivered an impressive performance with a score of 157.
Trace Carter emerged as the tournament's low medalist with an extraordinary score of 130, finishing 14 under par. His performance was a standout, securing his place as the top player in the tournament.
Coaches and Team Success
Congratulations are in order for the Gator Golfers and their dedicated coaches, Coach Wheeler and Coach Hayman, whose guidance and support were integral to the teams' success this season. The 2024 season has been very successful and culminated in a strong showing at the state tournament.
