In the quaint town of Commerce, where the breeze whispers through towering pines and the greens stretch out like emerald carpets, the 5A East Sectional of the GHSA Girls Golf Tournament took place. Amongst the competitors vying for a coveted spot in the State Tournament, stood a determined team from a small yet spirited school.
As the scores were tallied and the tension mounted, the girls of the team awaited their fate with bated breath. When the final numbers were revealed, the team had clinched fourth place, securing their ticket to the prestigious State Tournament.
With a team score of 284, each member had contributed to their success. Annslee Kate Grantham, with her unwavering determination, had posted a score of 110, while Lillie Livingston showcased her skill with a commendable 97. But it was the trio of Eevyy Griffin, Kate Thomas, and Anniston Grantham who truly shone, each scoring in the 90s – Griffin with a 96, and Thomas and Grantham both with impressive scores of 94. Huge Congratulations to Coach Wheeler, Coach Hayman, and all of the Gator Golfers.
As they celebrated their achievement, thoughts turned to the upcoming State Tournament where both the Girls Team and the Boys Team will be representing the Gators. The GHSA 5A Golf Tournament will be held in Blackshear, GA and hosted by Ware County out at Okefenokee Country Club on Monday May 20, 2024 and Tuesday May 21, 2024. Tee Times are set for 8:30 AM.
