The Lady Gators from Ware County made their debut at the 2024 GHSA State Weightlifting competition held in Heard County this past Saturday, and what a memorable entrance it was! With a team of 15 determined athletes, they showcased their strength, skill, and tenacity, leaving an indelible mark on the competition.

Out of their formidable squad, 7 of the Lady Gators returned home adorned with medals, a testament to their hard work and dedication. Not only that, but they also proudly brought back 2 coveted trophies, solidifying their place among the state's weightlifting elite.

The highlight of the event undoubtedly belonged to the remarkable achievements of the Lady Gators' state champions. Aleya Shears emerged victorious in the 110-pound category, demonstrating her unparalleled prowess and earning the title of State Champion. Joining her in the winner's circle were Charlacia Jones in the 145-pound category and Jada Evans in the 165-pound category, both claiming the coveted title of State Champion in their respective weight classes.

However, the accolades didn't end there. Jada Evans further distinguished herself by clinching the Pound-for-Pound State Champion and Most Weight Lifted State Champion titles, showcasing her exceptional talent and determination on the lifting platform.

The success of the Lady Gators extended beyond their champions, with commendable performances from Paislee Wildes, Jacey Thrift, LaNeeya Garrison, and Rhianna Mateyka, who secured respectable placements in their weight categories, contributing to the team's overall triumph.

In conclusion, the Ware County Girls' inaugural appearance at the GHSA State Weightlifting competition was nothing short of spectacular. Congratulations to the Lady Gators for their outstanding achievements, and here's to many more victories in the days to come!
