Saturday evening on March 2nd, 2024, the talented students of Ware County descended upon the Region 1-AAAAA Championship, determined to showcase their literary abilities. And showcase it they did, with resounding success.
In the realm of Oral Interpretation, Ware County's stars shone brightly. Amiyah Elam delivered a breathtaking performance in the Dramatic category, capturing the hearts of the audience and claiming the coveted 1st Place. Meanwhile, Izzy Lefand charmed everyone with her impeccable comedic timing, securing another 1st Place win in the Humorous category. But the duo of Izzy Lefand and Kierson Fort stole the show, clinching yet another 1st Place victory with their dynamic performance.
The Extemporaneous Speaking category witnessed Ware County's versatility. Amiyah Elam showcased her eloquence once more, earning a commendable 2nd Place in the Domestic section, while Amaya Acheoche impressed the judges with her global perspective, clinching 3rd Place in the International division.
The Essay segment was no exception to Ware County's excellence. Amaya Acheoche's poignant Personal essay touched hearts and claimed 3rd Place, while Haileigh Allen's compelling Argumentative piece secured a respectable 4th Place.
In the realm of Music, Ware County's melodious talents soared. Jason Bethea's soulful performance earned him 2nd Place in the Boy's Solo category, while Lauren Moore's angelic voice captured 1st Place in the Girl's Solo division. The Trio of Quiara Jenkins, Logan Markette, and Kyra Turlington mesmerized the audience with their harmonious blend, securing yet another 1st Place win. And the Quartet composed of Kamani Gainer, Caleb Ker, Jose Lopez, and Travis Johnson left the judges awestruck with their impeccable synchronization, claiming the top spot in their category.
With an impressive array of victories across multiple disciplines, Ware County emerged as the overall Region Champions for the third consecutive year. Mrs. Markette and her team of dedicated coaches couldn't contain their joy, beaming with pride at the remarkable achievements of their students.
As the celebrations ensued, anticipation mounted for the upcoming State Championship, where Ware County's finest would once again showcase their talents on a grand stage. With their hearts full of determination and their spirits soaring high, the literary stars of Ware County are ready to conquer new heights and make their mark on the state level.
