Saturday night the Gator Basketball Teams find themselves in another CRUCIAL Region 1 - 5A matchup. The Gators will be at home in The Gator Den to host the Statesboro High Blue Devils for four games. The schedule for today will be as follows:
-JV Girls at 2:00 PM
-JV Boys to follow JV Girls
-Varsity Girls at 5:00 PM
-Varsity Boys at 6:30 PM
***All Waycross Bulldog and Ware County High School Basketball Alumni will be recognized at halftime of the Varsity Boys Game.***
The game has huge region 1 - 5A implications as currently, the Lady Blue Devils are 14 - 2 overall and 3 - 1 in region 1 - 5A. The Lady Gators are currently sitting at 14 - 5 over all and 4 - 1 in Region 1 - 5A. The Lady Gators are looking to maintain and improve their 51.2 points per game average while holding the Blue Devils to their 33.4. points per game average. The Lady Gators are hoping to improve the four game winning streak to a five game streak.
The Varsity Boys will also take on the Blue Devils from Statesboro High who are sitting at 12 - 3 overall and 3 - 1 in Region 1 - 5A. The Gators' record stands at 12 - 7 overall and 4 - 1 in Region 1 - 5A with the only region loss coming from Bradwell Institute by a score of 70 - 50. The Gators average 65.4 points per game while the Blue Devils average 56.6 points per game. The Gators are also hoping to improve the four game winning streak to a five game streak.
