Wednesday's game against Coffee Lady Trojans was a heartbreaker for Ware County Lady Gators, as they lost the lead late in a 1-0 defeat. The game was tied at zero in the bottom of the sixth when Hanna Hutchinson singled, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Coffee pitching struck out 11, while Ware sat down three.
Reagan Middleton started the game for the Lady Gators. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and one run (zero earned) over six innings, striking out three and walking one. Erin Robinson led things off in the circle for the Lady Trojans. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 11 and walking one.
Josie Augustine led Ware County Varsity Gators with one hit in three at bats.
Ella Edge went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Coffee in hits. Hutchinson went 1-for-3 at the plate as she led the team with one run batted in. The Lady Trojans were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Hutchinson had the most chances in the field with 11.
Ware County plays at home on Thursday against Wayne County in their next game.
