Softball Over Jenkins

Game 1:

Mackenzi Trull With 4 Hits As Ware County Lady Gators Beat Jenkins 16 to 1

Mackenzi Trull collected four hits in four at bats, as Ware County Varsity Softball defeated Jenkins 16-1 on Thursday. Trull tripled in the fourth inning, singled in the first inning, doubled in the fourth inning, and singled in the third inning.

Ware scored nine runs in the fourth inning on the way to victory.  An error scored one run; Cuylea Martin doubled, scoring two runs; Molly Smith singled, scoring one run; Ashlyn Jacobs singled, scoring one run; Kara Coleman doubled, scoring one run; Josie Augustine singled, scoring one run; an error scored one run, and Kallie Lairsey hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

The Lady Gators opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. Ware first got on the board when Trull singled, scoring one run.

Ware County added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Amberley Padgett singled, Aniston Delk singled, Jenkins committed an error, Smith tripled, and LaNeeya Garrison grounded out, each scoring one run.

Reagan Middleton earned the win for Ware. She gave up three hits and one run over four innings, striking out five and walking none. Gracin Bote took the loss for Jenkins. She went three and two-thirds innings, allowing 16 runs (11 earned) on 15 hits, striking out one and walking one.

The Ware County Lady Gators accumulated 15 hits in the game. Martin and Padgett each drove in three runs. Delk and Smith each collected multiple hits for Ware. Raygan Dixon and Padgett each stole multiple bases for Ware. The Lady Gators ran wild on the base paths, amassing six stolen bases for the game.

Ma'Kaiyah Gray, Tashiyah David, and Bote each collected one hit for Jenkins. Bote led Jenkins with one run batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-2 on the day.

Game 2: 

Ware’s Mackenzi Trull Powers Through Jenkins 

Mackenzi Trull hit two home runs and drove in five as Ware County Lady Gators defeated Jenkins 13-0 on Thursday. Trull homered in the first and third innings.

Ware got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Trull homered to center field, scoring three runs, Aniston Delk doubled, scoring two runs, and a wild pitch scored one run.

The Lady Gators added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Amberley Padgett doubled, and Jenkins committed an error, each scoring one run.

Ware added five more runs in the bottom of the third inning on five hits. Lexi Howell hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Josie Augustine doubled, scoring one run, Trull homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Ashlyn Jacobs grounded out, scoring one run.

Kayleigh LeMay stepped in the circle first for Ware. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Gracin Bote led things off in the circle for Jenkins. She surrendered 11 hits and 13 runs (eight earned) over three innings, striking out none and walking two. Mattie Forsyth pitched one inning of zero-run ball for Ware County in relief. The reliever allowed one hit, striking out one and walking one.

The ladies of the swamp piled up 11 hits in the game. Raygan Dixon, Trull, and Padgett each collected two hits for Ware County.

Jedidiah Johnson and Gabrielle Barnum were almost a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Jenkins while hitting back-to-back.
