Ware County Varsity Lady Gators Secure Win Against Toombs County
Ware County Varsity Lady Gators were victorious against Toombs County 4-2 on Thursday.
Ware opened the scoring in the bottom of the third thanks to two singles. The Lady Gators first got on the board when Josie Augustine singled, scoring one run.
Reagan Middleton started the game for Ware. The starting pitcher gave up nine hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out one and walking one. Casey Cantwell led things off in the circle for Toombs County. They allowed five hits and four runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out six and walking two.
LaNeeya Garrison, Ware’s number nine hitter, led the team with two hits in two at-bats. Aniston Delk, Raygan Dixon, and Augustine each drove in one run for theLady Gators. Molly Smith stole two bases.
Cantwell and Nora Grace Mercer were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Toombs County while hitting back-to-back. Cantwell provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Toombs County with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-4 on the day.
