Ware County JV Softball’s Late Push Leads To Victory Over Toombs County Lady Dawgs JV Softball
Ware County JV Lady Gators bested Toombs County JV Softball 6-5 on Thursday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the third when a wild pitch scored one run.
Toombs JV opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two ground outs. They first got on the board when Mackenzie Coursey grounded out, scoring one run.
Toombs added two runs in the second. Kassidy Brantley doubled, making the score 4-1.
Kara Coleman singled, which helped Ware tie the game at four in the bottom of the second.
Toombs took the lead in the top of the third. Aleigha Diaz singled, scoring one run, to give them the leg up, 5-4.
Ware jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Kayleigh LeMay singled, and Ware then scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.
LeMay started in the circle for Ware County Junior Varsity Lady Gators. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and five runs (zero earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one. Cyleigh Enis began the game for Toombs County. They gave up four hits and six runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking three.
LeMay, Paisley Wildes, Coleman, and Ashlyn Jacobs each collected one hit for Ware County. Coleman led Ware County JV girls with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day.
Brantley set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Toombs County Varsity Lady Dawgs Softball with two hits in three at bats. Toombs County Lady Dawgs Softball didn't commit a single error in the field. Diaz had the most chances in the field with three.
