Ware County Junior Varsity Gators Softball Fall After Strong Showing By Wayne County

Ware County Junior Varsity Gators couldn't keep up with Wayne County and fell 16-4 on Wednesday.

Wayne County got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Addison Thompson doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Bella Hannah tripled, scoring three runs, Emilee Weaver singled, scoring one run, and Jaylee Weaver singled, scoring one run.

Wayne County added two runs in the second. Emily Beasley grounded out, making the score 9-0.

A single by Morgan Boatright extended the Wayne County lead to 10-4 in the bottom of the third inning.

Wayne County scored six runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Beasley homered to right field, scoring two runs, Weaver singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Ada Sluder singled, scoring one run.

Kayleigh LeMay stepped in the circle first for Ware County Junior Varsity Gators. They surrendered 10 hits and 13 runs (four earned) over one inning, striking out none and walking three.

Paisley Wildes and Ashlyn Jacobs each collected two hits for Ware County Junior Varsity Gators. Kara Coleman went 1-for-3 at the plate as they led the team with two runs batted in. Ware County Junior Varsity Gators turned one double play in the game.

Wayne County amassed 12 hits in the game. Boatright, Thompson, Weaver, and Weaver each collected two hits for Wayne County. Beasley and Hannah each drove in three runs for Wayne County. Dallas Hall led Wayne County with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game.

The Lady Gators will host Toombs County @ Gator Field.  JV action is set for 4:00 PM while Varsity is scheduled for a 5:30 PM first pitch.  Tickets will be $7.00 at the gate.
