The Ware County School System congratulates Captain Teresa Grant, the Classified Golden Achievement Award winner for the month of December 2022.
Upon presentation of the award, Principal Dr. Bill Epps shared the following:
“On behalf of Williams Heights Elementary School, it is my honor to recognize Captain Teresa Grant as the classified Golden Achievement recipient for the 2022-2023 school year. Captain Grant has been the school resource officer at Williams Heights for 4 years.
“Prior to coming to Williams Heights, Captain Grant served the citizens of Waycross and Ware County as a member of the Waycross Police Department. She retired from Waycross Police Department as a Sargent of detectives over the criminal investigation unit.
“Captain Grant is a vital part of the safe and inviting environment at Williams Heights. A typical day usually starts with her welcoming students at the car line and having students who have cashed in their PBIS points to help her put up the flags. Throughout the day as part of Williams Heights PBIS rewards Captain Grant usually has five or six junior deputies sworn in and make their safety check of the school and check out her squad car, radio, lights, and all. Throw in being the pitcher for a serious game of kickball at recess as she monitors the grounds, and you have just begun to catch a glimpse of the work Captain Grant does to keep our school safe and to build positive relationships with our students and staff.
“Captain Grant never sits still, this is evident by the miles she walks during the day before ending the day with student dismissal where she receives numerous hugs as students leave. We are thankful and blessed to have Captain Teresa Grant at Williams Heights.”
