Slash Pine Electric Membership Corporation recently presented $5,335.81 to the Ware County Board of Education to help fund nutritional programs.
House Bill 431 provides an alternative method for the disposition of abandoned capital credits, which previously had been returned to the state. HB 431 allowed electric membership corporations (EMCs) to donate funds for certain approved uses, such as an Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) organization serving in the EMC's service area, used in support of education in the service area or for economic development purposes in the service area.
Slash Pine EMC's Board of Directors made the decision to use unclaimed capital credits from the year 2012 to fund educational and community development programs in its service territory.
Slash Pine EMC is committed to improving the quality of life for its members and the community it serves.
Members of the Ware County Schools Nutrition Department (Tammy Boyd, Maq Johnson, and Bonnie Patterson) are shown with the check. Thank you for partnering with us, Slash Pine EMC!
