Mrs. Melanie Cox is the December 2020 Certified Golden Achievement Award Winner for Williams Heights Elementary. Upon presenting the award, Interim Principal Mr. Bill Epps noted:
“On behalf of Williams Heights Elementary School, I would like to honor Mrs. Melanie Cox as the certified Golden Achievement winner for the 2020-2021 school year. Mrs. Cox has taught in the Ware County School System for 20 years and has served as a Special Education teacher at Williams Heights for the last 3 years. Mrs. Cox goes above and beyond to help students and staff. This year, Mrs. Cox filled a huge gap when two of the three fifth grade teachers were out on extended leaves. Mrs. Cox was vital in keeping those classes running smoothly and effectively. She taught lessons, graded assignments, assisted the substitute, and made parent contacts, all while maintaining her full special education caseload. Mrs. Cox did all of this with a smile on her face, and consistently asked if there was anything else she could do to help. It doesn’t take being around Mrs. Cox for long to see her passion for teaching and her heart for children. She truly embodies what a co-teacher should be—the support and leadership she shows her teammates is outstanding. Williams Heights truly became a better school with the addition of Mrs. Cox.”
Congratulations, Mrs. Cox!
