Liz O., a Ware County High School band student, was selected to the Georgia Music Educators All-State Orchestra after auditioning in McDonough, GA. Liz is a senior trombone player and is a participant with the Golden Gator Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Wind Ensemble at Ware County High School. She has been selected to numerous honor bands throughout high school, including District Honor Band, District Jazz Band, Region Honor Band, and the UGA JanFest Honor Band. Liz has put in an immense amount of practice and preparation time both at home and after school in the band room, gone through two rounds of auditions going up against over 10,000 band students throughout the entire state of Georgia, and has been selected among the best of the best in the state - making the 11/12 GMEA All-State Orchestra.
Liz was selected as one of only four tenor trombone players to earn a position in the orchestra. This event was held in the Athens Classic Center February 29 - March 2nd, and consisted of both bands and orchestras from middle school, 9/10, and 11/12. These students had the opportunity to rehearse with a group of Georgia’s finest high school musicians as well as top-notch clinicians who are lined up to direct the All-State Bands and Orchestras. Making the All-State band or orchestra in high school is seen as one of, if not the highest individual musical achievement that one can attain.
Congratulations to Liz on her outstanding achievement - The Ware County Golden Gator Band, Ware County High School, and the city of Waycross can be extremely proud of her hard work and dedication!
