Student leaders from Ware County High School's Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) were recognized at the February 2024 board meeting in honor of CTAE (Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education) month, which is designated nationwide as a time to recognize the value, achievements, and accomplishments of CTAE programs across the county.
Angelita F. was selected to address board members and guests, representing a well-rounded CTAE pathway student who is a pathway completer, involved in work-based learning, active in her CTSO, and passionate about her career she decided upon as a result of her participation in CTSO/CTAE.
Here are some quick highlights of Ware CTSO/CTAE's success:
- The graduation rate for students completing a CTAE pathway at Ware County High School is 96%. This is 6% above the state target level for CTAE and well above the state average graduation rate of 84%.
- 1,334 students or 88% of all middle school students in Ware County take CTAE Connections courses.
- 1,487 students or 86% of all Ware County High School students take one or more CTAE courses.
- 10 of WCHS’s 14 career pathways are industry-certified.
- Work-Based Learning students worked over 48,000 hours last year and earned over $740,000 combined.
- 100% of CTAE students learn valuable employability skills.
- Students gain valuable experience through participation in CTSOs. 1,262 middle and high school students were members of CTSO organizations in Ware County last year.
- Each CTSO has won numerous awards.
