At the August 2023 board meeting, several current and former students as well as teachers were recognized for their recent achievements, including:
1) Cassidy Moore King, who was chosen as the Southeast Region Youth Apprenticeship Completer of the Year;
2) VEX and TSA Robotics Team Members Maddox G., Connor C., Kent T., and Evan S. who won 1st place in Robotics at TSA State and came in 16th out of 800 teams at Worlds;
3) Grayson M. who was named the state champion in the FFA tractor operation and maintenance Career Development Event;
4) Zharia Phillips, who was recognized as Georgia Youth Apprenticeship Program Completer;
5) Colleen Barber, who won the state competition in the FFA Prepared Public Speaking Career Development Event;
6) The high school agriculture education department teachers (Jay Bennett, Eric Hickox, Lissi Chism, Alex Chism) for being recognized as having the Outstanding Middle/High School Secondary Agricultural Education program in the state; and
7) Lissi Chism for being named Georgia's Teachers Turn the Key winner. She is now a national finalist in this award area.
